Additional information

Magnesia ad Maeandrum's civic coinage under Gordian III was administered through locally appointed magistrates, and the name ΔΗΜΟΝΕΙΚΟΣ preserved in this issue's legend is one of the few surviving records of that individual's existence. The conventus system under which Magnesia fell — the judicial circuit centered on Miletus — gave such provincial cities controlled but real autonomy in their bronze emissions, used primarily for local market transactions rather than inter-regional trade.

The reference VII.1#531A suggests this is a variant within a closely catalogued series, likely distinguished by a die pairing or reverse type not shared with the primary 531 listing.
