| Beschrijving keerzijde | A ram advances to the left in the central field, approaching a tall burning pyre from which leafy branches emerge, a type closely associated with the foundation myth and sacred rites of Magnesia ad Maeandrum. The composition references the Leukophryena festival and the city's devotion to Artemis Leukophryene, whose cult was central to Magnesian civic identity. The Greek magistrate legend is distributed around the field and in the lower exergual area, naming the grammateus Aurelius Demokrates in his second tenure. The flan is irregular and the surfaces show characteristic provincial fabric with a dark green patina. |
