| Reverse description | Apollo depicted nude, standing and facing right, his right arm raised with hand extended, while his left hand rests upon a lyre set atop a tall column at his side. To his left, a tree entwined by a serpent rises behind him, alluding to his chthonic and oracular associations. The composition is characteristic of Apolline imagery in the provincial coinage of Mysia. The encircling Greek legend names the local magistrate and the issuing city. |
