Obverse description Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, rendered in three-quarter view from the rear, with the paludamentum visible over the left shoulder and the cuirass detailing partially discernible despite heavy wear. The imperial effigy occupies the central field, with the Greek legend disposed around the periphery. The portrait reflects the provincial die-engraving tradition of the Pergamene conventus, with characteristic broad flan and bold relief. Surface shows a dark green patina with areas of encrustation consistent with extended burial.
