Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, rendered three-quarter from the rear in the characteristic late Severan-Gordian provincial style. The imperial effigy occupies the central field, with the paludamentum visible over the left shoulder. A Greek imperial titulature legend runs around the periphery of the flan, naming the emperor with his full titulature. The flan is irregular and somewhat worn, though the portrait retains identifiable features consistent with Gordian III's youthful iconography as seen on Eastern provincial bronzes.
