To her left, Sarapis stands frontally, head turned left, his right hand raised in salutation, with a lighted altar placed at his feet — a pairing that symbolises the concord (Homonoia) between the cities of Ephesus and Alexandria. The encircling legend identifies both cities, and the composition reflects the established iconographic tradition of inter-city alliance coinage in the Greek East. |
