| Beschrijving keerzijde | Asclepius, the god of medicine, stands facing with head turned to the left, his weight supported by a serpent-entwined staff (the caduceus of Asclepius) held in his right hand; the serpent coils prominently around the lower portion of the staff and rears its head upward. The deity is rendered as a bearded, semi-draped figure standing on a low plinth or base line, in a style consistent with Lydian provincial bronze coinage. The encircling legend in Greek records the names and titles of the presiding local magistrate and identifies the issuing city of the Saittians. |
