Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Elagabalus facing right, rendered in three-quarter view seen from the rear, displaying the elaborate military paludamentum and segmented cuirass with decorative pteryges. The emperor's youthful features are framed by a laurel wreath, with curled hair visible beneath. The encircling Greek legend reads ΑΥ ΚΑΙ Μ ΑΥΡ ΑΝΤΩΝΕΙΝΟϹ, identifying the emperor by his formal imperial titulature. The die engraving is typical of the provincial workshop at Cyzicus, exhibiting bold, high-relief portraiture characteristic of early third-century Asia Minor civic coinage.
