Reverse description Two standing figures face one another in a handshake (dexiosis) composition symbolising Homonoia (Concord) between the cities of Pergamum and Ephesus. At left, a draped figure of the Ephesian Artemis stands facing right, with a stag behind her; at right, a bearded male figure, identified as Zeus of Pergamum, stands holding a long transverse sceptre. The legend, distributed around the field and in the exergual area, records the name of the presiding strategos Claudius Kephalion and the theme of civic concord.
