| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Caracalla facing right, rendered in the characteristic vigorous style of Severan provincial coinage. The emperor's effigy occupies the central field, with the laurel wreath clearly distinguishable despite heavy patination and surface encrustation. The circular Greek legend ΑΝΤΩΝΕΙΝΟϹ ΑΥΓΟΥϹΤΟϹ runs around the periphery, identifying the emperor by his adopted name Antoninus with the title Augustus. |
