Obverse description Draped bust of Julia Domna facing right, her hair elaborately waved and coiled at the nape in the characteristic Severan style. The empress is depicted with drapery over the shoulder, rendered in the provincial workshop tradition of Ionian Asia Minor. The encircling Greek legend names her as Augusta, disposed around the bust within the coin's field.

Reverse description Athena, the city goddess associated with Colophon, depicted standing to the left in full figure, clad in chiton and aegis. She extends a patera in her right hand and holds an upright spear in her left, with a round shield resting at her side. The composition reflects the standard honorific type for Athena found on civic bronzes of Ionian cities under the Severan dynasty. The encircling legend records the local magistrate responsible for the issue and the civic ethnic of the Colophonians.
