| Beschrijving keerzijde | The god Dionysus stands in full figure facing left at centre, depicted in a relaxed contrapposto stance. In his extended right hand he holds a cantharus (drinking cup) tilted downward over a panther crouching at his feet to the left, while his left hand carries a thyrsus, the characteristic Bacchic staff. The composition reflects the Dionysiac cult prominently venerated at Amisus, with the city's freedom legend and regnal year inscribed in the surrounding field. The reverse type is a recurrent civic emblem on Pontic coinage of this period. |
