| Reverse description | Tyche of Tiberias, wearing a kalathos (basket crown) on her head, standing facing left in a dynamic posture with drapery falling in vertical folds. In her outstretched right hand she holds two corn-ears, and in her left arm a cornucopia, symbolising the city's prosperity and fertility. The Greek legend is divided in two lines on either side of the central figure, reading ΕΤΟΥ ΙΕ (Year 15) above ΒΑ / ΑΓΡΙ-ΠΠΑ, indicating the regnal year of Agrippa II under whose authority the coin was struck. The reverse composition is typical of civic Tyche types issued by cities of the eastern Roman provinces. |
