| Beschrijving keerzijde | Nike, the winged goddess of victory, depicted advancing to the left in flowing drapery, her large wings spread behind her. In her extended right hand she holds a wreath, while her left hand carries a long palm branch resting against her shoulder, both attributes being canonical symbols of martial triumph in provincial Greek coinage. The figure is rendered in the characteristic provincial style of Asia Minor, with pleated garments rendered in low relief. The encircling Greek legend, occupying the full periphery of the flan, references the local grammateus (civic secretary) Marcus Aurelius Charetides under whose authority the coin was issued, along with the civic ethnic of the Trallians. |
