| Beschrijving keerzijde | Tyche, the civic deity and personification of the city's fortune, depicted standing to the left in full figure, robed in a long chiton and himation. She holds a ship's rudder in her right hand, symbolising the city's destiny and guidance, and a cornucopia overflowing with fruit and grain in her left arm, emblematic of prosperity. A two-line Greek legend surrounding the figure names the city of Eumenea and records the tenure of the local agonothete Iulius Theophilos, providing a rare epigraphic datum for municipal administration. The type is consistent with civic reverses produced at Eumenea during the reigns of Trebonianus Gallus and Volusian. |
