Obverse description Laureate bust of Emperor Trajan facing right, depicted nude with an aegis draped over the left shoulder, rendered in the vigorous provincial style characteristic of Alexandrian coinage. The Greek legend surrounding the effigy identifies the emperor by his full titulature, disposed around the bust in the field. The portrait displays the characteristic strong features associated with Trajanic numismatic portraiture, with the laurel wreath clearly defined despite the coin's heavy patination. The flan is irregular in outline, consistent with hand-struck provincial bronze production of the period.
