Obverse description Diademed and draped bust of Julia Mamaea facing right, rendered in the provincial style characteristic of the Pergamene conventus. The empress is depicted with an elaborately coiffed hairstyle secured by a diadem, her shoulders enveloped in drapery. The Greek legend encircles the effigy in the outer field, identifying the subject as Julia Mamaea Augusta. The portrait exhibits the idealized yet individualized features typical of Severan-era provincial coinage from Asia Minor.
