The ethnic legend ΚΑΛΧΑΔΟΝΙΩΝ curves around the upper periphery of the flan, identifying the issuing civic authority of Calchedon. The composition is rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of Bithynian bronze coinage of the Severan period, with the tripod and serpent motif reflecting the city's Apolline cultic connections. |
