| Reverse description | Homonoia type presenting the civic deities of Chios and Erythrae in bilateral composition. At left, Apollo of Chios stands holding a bow in his left hand and extending a patera in his right, representing the primary deity of Chios. To the right, Dionysus of Erythrae stands with head crowned in ivy, grasping a long thyrsus in his left hand and performing a libation gesture with his raised right. The pairing reflects the formal concord (homonoia) between the two poleis of Erythrae and Chios, a theme reinforced by the encircling legend ΕΡΥΘΡΑΙΩΝ ΚΑΙ ΧΙΩΝ / ΟΜΟ in the field and exergue, denoting the alliance of the Erythraeans and Chians. |
