| Reverse description | A tall, slender amphora with two handles rendered in high relief dominates the central field, serving as the principal civic type of Chios. Flanking the amphora on each side is a cluster comprising two ears of grain and a poppy head, emblematic of the island's agricultural prosperity. The ethnic legend ΧΙΩΝ is distributed in the field to either side of the amphora. The overall composition is compact and well-centred, consistent with the Provincial coinage tradition of the Conventus of Pergamum. |
