The legend ΤΙΕ ΚΑϹΥ ΚΑΥ ΕΤ Δ encodes a local era date — year four — calculated from the city's grant of neocorate status, a privilege Tyana leveraged aggressively to assert prestige against its Cappadocian rival Caesarea. Provincial bronze of this weight class from Tyana is considerably scarcer than comparable issues from Caesarea, which operated on a far larger civic mint scale.
