| Obverse description | Diademed and draped bust of Otacilia Severa facing right, rendered in the provincial style typical of Magnesian coinage under Philip I. The empress is portrayed with her characteristic stephane-like diadem and elaborately draped paludamentum or mantle fastened at the shoulder. The circular Greek legend runs around the periphery of the flan, identifying the subject as Marcia Otacilia Severa Augusta. The portrait is executed in relatively high relief against a flat, unadorned field. |
