| Beschrijving keerzijde | Tyche, the civic goddess of fortune, stands facing left in a full-length figure, wearing a turreted crown, chiton and himation. In her right hand she holds a small statuette of Ares, the patron deity of Metropolis, while her left arm supports a large cornucopia, symbols of divine protection and civic prosperity. At her feet to the left stands a small lighted altar, an allusion to the city's cultic observances. The Greek magistrate's legend fills the field in two registers around the figure. The reverse type underscores the city's identity and its devotion to the war god Ares as a founding deity. |
