| Beschrijving keerzijde | Apollo seated left upon a rocky outcrop, rendered in a relaxed pose characteristic of Hellenistic artistic tradition. The god holds a laurel branch in his outstretched right hand, while his left arm rests upon a lyre placed upon a support or column beside him. The composition reflects the longstanding veneration of Apollo in the region of Magnesia ad Sipylum, and the type is consistent with other provincial bronzes struck under the authority of the local strategos. The multi-line Greek legend naming the strategos and the civic authority is distributed around the field and periphery. |
