| Beschrijving keerzijde | Athena standing left in full figure, helmeted and clad in aegis and chiton, extending her right hand to hold a Nike figurine and grasping a long spear with her left hand, against which rests a round shield at her side. The goddess is rendered in a classical, hieratic stance typical of civic bronze coinage from the Smyrna conventus. The Greek legend distributed around the field records the name of the local strategos Aurelius Onesimos and the ethnic of the issuing city. The overall execution reflects a competent but worn provincial die of the mid-third century AD. |
