Reverse description Two agonistic prize crowns (stephanoi) set side by side at centre, each inscribed with the name of a festival and each surmounted by two palm branches, symbols of victory in the sacred games. The crowns commemorate the Pythia and Chrysanthina festivals celebrated at Hierapolis, and the reverse type proclaims the homonoia (concord) between Hierapolis and Sardis, both neokorate cities. The encircling legend names the two cities and their shared honours in Greek characters.
