Reverse description Two standing female deities face one another in the field. To the left, Kore (Persephone) stands facing right, holding a long torch in one hand and two ears of grain in the other. To the right, a veiled Demeter stands facing left, holding what appears to be a patera and a long torch, reflecting the strong chthonic and agrarian cult associations of the Odessos mint. The composition reflects the prominent role of the Eleusinian divinities in the religious life of the Black Sea colonial city, rendered in the conventional provincial Greek style.
