| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Macrinus facing right, rendered in the provincial style typical of Bithynian coinage of the early third century AD. The laureate wreath is rendered with boldly raised leaves, and the cuirass or drapery is visible at the truncation. The imperial effigy fills the flan assertively, with a beaded border encircling the design. The Greek legend is disposed around the bust in the field, identifying the emperor by his full titulature. |
