| Beschrijving keerzijde | Apollo standing facing, nude or lightly draped, his head turned slightly, holding a plectrum in his extended right hand and a kithara (lyre) in his left. The deity is rendered in the classical civic tradition of Magnesia ad Maeandrum, a city closely associated with the cult of Apollo. The Greek magistrate legend is distributed in the field around the figure, partly in the upper and lateral areas of the reverse. The flan is pierced at the lower edge, and the surfaces display heavy green-brown patination with areas of encrustation. |
