Reverse description The goddess Cybele, the Anatolian mother deity, is depicted enthroned and seated to the left in a stately, hieratic pose befitting her divine status. In her right hand she holds a patera, symbol of ritual libation, while her left arm rests upon a tympanum set beside her on the throne. At her feet, a recumbent lion — her sacred animal and constant attribute — is depicted in the field to the lower left. The reverse legend in Greek majuscules naming the local magistrate and the civic ethnic of Germe runs around the periphery.
