| Descrizione del rovescio | Zeus standing left in full figure, draped and rendered in the classical provincial style, extending his right hand to hold an eagle and grasping a long sceptre in his left hand. The deity is depicted in a frontal contrapposto stance characteristic of Phrygian civic bronzes of the mid-third century AD. The ethnic legend ΑΙΖΑΝΕΙΤΩΝ is arranged around the figure in the field. The reverse type reflects the dominant cult of Zeus at Aezani, where his celebrated temple remained a central religious symbol. |
