| Obverse description | Laureate head of the emperor Elagabalus facing right, rendered in the provincial style typical of Bithynian civic coinage of the early third century AD. The portrait displays the characteristic youthful features of the emperor, with a laurel wreath crowning the head. The surrounding field bears a Greek imperial titulature legend. The flan is somewhat irregular in shape, consistent with hand-struck provincial bronze production. |

| Reverse description | Tetrastyle temple depicted in frontal elevation, its arcuated lintel (arched entablature) resting upon four columns. Within the intercolumniation stands Apollo facing front, head turned to the left, extending a laurel branch over a lighted altar placed before him. The architectural rendering is consistent with the civic temple coinage of Calchedon, celebrating a local cult of Apollo. The city ethnic legend is inscribed in the field around the temple. |
