| Obverse description | Draped bust of Julia Domna facing right, her hair elaborately dressed in the characteristic ridged and waved style arranged in horizontal bands across the crown and gathered at the nape, wearing a chiton. The empress is depicted with her customary regal bearing, the drapery folds visible at the shoulder and chest. The Greek legend ΙΟΥΛΙΑ ΑΥΓΟΥϹΤΑ runs around the periphery of the field. |

| Reverse description | Heracles depicted nude and advancing to the left, the Nemean lion skin draped around his neck and shoulders, his right arm raised brandishing his club aloft while his left hand grasps the Lernaean Hydra by one of its serpentine heads. The muscular heroic figure exemplifies the Hellenistic treatment of the demigod's labours. The civic ethnic legend ΝΙΚΑΙΕΩΝ is inscribed around the field. |
