The figure is rendered in the Hellenistic tradition reflecting Sinope's cultural connections with the Egyptian cult of Sarapis, which was particularly prominent in Black Sea coastal cities. The colonial dating formula in the reverse legend places this issue firmly within the local era of Sinope. The composition fills the flan with the deity's reclining form dominating the reverse field.
