| Beschrijving keerzijde | Dionysus, the patron deity of Teos, seated to the left upon a throne or rock, his body shown in a relaxed pose. In his right hand he holds a cantharus (wine cup), and in his left a long thyrsus, the emblematic staff of the god entwined with vine leaves. The reverse field is encircled by a Greek legend naming the local magistrate (strategos) Claudius Pankrates and the civic ethnic of the Teians, a standard formula for civic bronze coinage of the Ionian conventus under the joint reign of Valerian and Gallienus. |
