Obverse description Laureate bust of Emperor Trajan facing right, rendered nude with an aegis draped over the left shoulder, a characteristic Alexandrian convention blending Roman imperial portraiture with Hellenistic divine imagery. The laureate wreath is rendered with fine detail, and the strong facial features of Trajan are depicted in profile with a short beard. A Greek legend runs around the periphery of the flan, identifying the emperor by his titles. The flan is irregular and shows typical characteristics of provincial Egyptian bronze coinage of the period.
