| Beschrijving keerzijde | Nike, the winged goddess of victory, depicted advancing to the left in full stride, her wings spread behind her. She holds a victor's wreath extended in her right hand and carries a long palm-branch in her left. The figure is rendered in the Hellenistic tradition common to Alexandrian provincial coinage, with drapery flowing around the lower body. The regnal date formula L Β appears in the left field, denoting the second year of Trajan's reign in the Egyptian calendar. |

This piece dates to Trajan's second regnal year in Egypt — a reckoning that began not from his accession in January 98 AD but from the Egyptian calendar's New Year in late August, meaning coins bearing LB were struck across a window that straddles the Roman and Alexandrian chronologies. The Alexandria mint operated under the prefect of Egypt, entirely insulated from the Roman senatorial system, and produced a closed currency that could not legally circulate outside Egypt's borders.
