| Beschrijving keerzijde | The lunar deity Mên stands facing left in full figure, wearing a Phrygian cap and short chiton, with a crescent set behind his shoulders — his characteristic divine attribute. In his right hand he holds a patera extended over an altar or bucranium at his feet, while his left hand grasps a long sceptre or spear. The composition follows the standard Anatolian iconographic type for Mên widely attested in the civic coinage of Ionian and Lydian cities during the imperial period. A retrograde Greek legend identifying the issuing magistrate and city runs around the reverse field. |
