| Obverse description | Laureate and cuirassed bust of Emperor Trajan Decius facing left, depicted in three-quarter front view, rendered in the provincial style characteristic of Mesopotamian colonial mints. The imperial effigy displays the laurel wreath and military cuirass befitting his rank, with the surrounding Greek legend distributed around the periphery of the flan. The portrait, though heavily worn and encrusted, retains the characteristic broad-shouldered presentation of mid-third-century Roman provincial coinage. The legend reads ΑΥΤ ΚΑΙ ΓΑΙ ΜΕϹ ΚΥ ΤΡΑ ΔΕΚΙΟϹ ϹΕΒ, proclaiming the full imperial titulature of Gaius Messius Quintus Traianus Decius Augustus. |
