附加信息

Prusias ad Hypium occupied a strategically awkward position in Bithynia — close enough to the major Pontic trade routes to matter, too far from the provincial capital Nicomedia to dominate. Local bronze issues under Septimius Severus were almost certainly tied to the city's need to facilitate small-denomination exchange during a period when imperial silver was being debased to fund Severus's relentless military campaigns, including the civil wars against Pescennius Niger and Clodius Albinus that consumed the first years of his reign.
