| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Septimius Severus facing right, with short curled beard rendered in the characteristic Severan style. The laureate wreath is clearly defined atop the emperor's head, and the paludamentum is visible at the shoulder. A Greek imperial legend surrounds the effigy along the periphery of the flan. The portrait exhibits the strong, mature facial features associated with Severan dynastic coinage from Bithynian provincial mints. |

| Reverse description | Dionysus depicted nude, seated left upon a rocky outcrop or pile of rocks, his head turned back to the right in a dynamic contrapposto pose. His right arm is raised over his head, while his left hand grasps a long thyrsus held transversely across the field. The figure is rendered with attention to Hellenistic sculptural convention, evoking the god's association with revelry and divine leisure. The reverse legend is distributed in the field around the deity. The overall composition reflects the strong Greek artistic tradition maintained at the Heraclean mint. |
