Obverse description Draped bust of Julia Domna facing right, with her characteristic elaborately waved and coiled hairstyle rendered in high relief. The effigy is depicted with drapery visible at the truncation of the shoulder. The encircling Greek legend ΙΟΥΛΙΑ ϹΕΒΑϹΤΗ runs around the periphery of the field, identifying the empress as Julia Augusta. The flan is irregular and the coin is struck within a beaded border.
