| Obverse description | Draped bust of Julia Domna facing right, her characteristic waved and elaborately coiled hair rendered in the typical Severan style. The effigy is portrayed with drapery visible at the shoulder, consistent with provincial Roman portraiture of the period. The encircling legend reads ΙΟΥΛΙΑ ϹΕΒΑϹΤΗ, identifying the empress as Julia Augusta. The coin field is heavily patinated with dark brown surfaces, and the portrait, though somewhat worn, retains the characteristic features associated with Julia Domna's imperial iconography. |
