Reverse description A large eagle stands facing with wings spread, its head turned to the right, holding a wreath in its beak — a common symbol of imperial power and divine favor on Cypriot provincial bronzes. The bird's plumage is rendered in fine detail with feathers indicated on the spread wings and tail. The Greek legend of the Koinon of Cyprus is inscribed around the eagle in the field. The design is enclosed within a dotted border. The overall style is characteristic of civic bronze coinage struck under the authority of the Cypriot league during the Severan period.
