| Descripción del reverso | Tetrastyle temple with arched pediment set on a stepped podium, rendered in frontal view; within the intercolumniation, the enthroned figure of Sarapis is depicted facing, head turned to the left, extending his right hand above the three-headed Cerberus seated at his feet, while his left hand rests upon a long sceptre. The syncretic iconography reflects the prominent cult of Sarapis at Amasea. The reverse legend in Greek characters is distributed around the periphery, incorporating the city name ΑΜΑϹΙ and the regnal year ϹΘ (= year 209 of the local Pontic era, corresponding to AD 206–207). |
