Reverse description The personification of Dacia stands facing left at centre, wearing the characteristic Dacian cap (pilleus), and holding a curved falx or sword in one hand and two vexilla (legionary standards) inscribed V and XIII respectively, referencing Legio V Macedonica and Legio XIII Gemina, the two legions garrisoned in the province. To the left, an eagle stands facing left with head turned right, holding a wreath in its beak; to the right, a lion stands facing left. The legend PROVINCIA DACIA with AN III in the exergue or field denotes the third year of the provincial era, corresponding to 248-249 AD.
