Additional information

Provincia Dacia was an unusual Roman provincial coinage series in that it operated on its own internal dating system — the AN (anno) notation marking years from the province's establishment as a unified administrative unit under Philip I in 246 AD. AN II therefore places this piece in the second year of that reckoning, running across 247–248. The series was short-lived; it effectively ended when Philip died at Verona in 249, killed by troops loyal to Decius.

RPC VIII remains unassigned for much of this series, reflecting ongoing scholarly work to sort a complex web of die links and mint attributions. Moushmov 22 is the older anchor reference most dealers still rely on.
