Reverse description Heracles depicted standing in a three-quarter frontal pose, nude, with his weight shifted slightly to one side in a contrapposto stance. He holds his knotted club downward in his right hand and the golden apples of the Hesperides in his left, with the Nemean lion skin draped over his left forearm. The Greek legend surrounding the figure proclaims the neocorate status of Heraclea Pontica, the city's divine patron being the hero from whom it derived its name.
