The laurel wreath is clearly defined around the imperial effigy. The goddess is shown in the traditional polymastic form associated with the great sanctuary at Ephesus, her arms extended outward. The two-word Greek legend ΑΡΤΕΜΙϹ ΕΦΕϹΙΑ is disposed in the field flanking the statue, identifying the deity and her cult centre. |
