Corinth's colonial status under Rome — reconstituted by Julius Caesar in 44 BC as Colonia Laus Iulia Corinthiensis after a century of deliberate abandonment following Mummius's destruction in 146 BC — gave its civic bronzes a distinctly Latin character unusual among Greek provincial issues.
